Eligibility:
-Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be enrolled in one of the five Virginia Space Grant Consortium member institutions at time of award.
- Must be a current full-time student (minimum of 12 credit hours)
-Must be majoring in a teacher education program with a STEM subject concentration
-Must have a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Scholarship Open for International Students: No
Scholarship Description: The Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) offers the Teacher Education STEM Scholarship Program to encourage talented individuals to consider education careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Successful candidates who are awarded a scholarship will receive a one-year, non-renewable $1,000 stipend. To be eligible, an undergraduate or graduate student must be enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours) at one of the five Virginia Space Grant Consortium universities and be majoring in a teacher preparation program. A current sophomore attending a Virginia Community College preparing to transfer to one of the five consortium institutions and matriculating into a STEM education program is also eligible to apply. Students must be pursuing a teacher certification that would qualify them to teach in a pre-college environment. This scholarship is based on merit and is competitive recognizing high academic achievement and promise.
