Students must apply during their freshman year of community college enrollment for an award that will begin in the sophomore year. The number of awards is contingent on available funding. This is a competitive scholarship program based on academic merit funded by NASA and the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizing high academic achievement and promise. To be eligible, an undergraduate or graduate student must be enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours) at one of the five Virginia Space Grant Consortium universities and be majoring in a teacher preparation program. A current sophomore attending a Virginia Community College preparing to transfer to one of the five consortium institutions and matriculating into a STEM education program is also eligible to apply. Scholarship Description: MS shouldn’t stand in the way of an education. This is why the National MS Society’s scholarship program exists — to help highly qualified students who have been diagnosed with MS or who have a parent with MS achieve their dreams of going to college. The Society established its scholarship program in 2003 and the program continues to grow both in terms of support and scholarships awarded.
